Nicole Toomey Davis, President and
CEO
Nicole Toomey Davis is the former President, CEO and co-founder of
DoBox,
Inc. the
leading provider of residential gateway software and parental control solutions for the broadband gateway industry.
Ms. Davis launched DoBox in 1999 to deliver simple, safe networking that supports the unique needs, technical abilities, and lifestyles of home
users and led the company to a successful
acquisition by Netopia, Inc in early 2002,
subsequently acquired by Motorola.
Ms. Davis has also been tapped by the
administration of Utah's Governor Huntsman to help accelerate the
commercialization of Utah's most promising University based technologies as
Director of the
Centers of Excellence Program. Ms. Davis will continue to
lead Enclavix as she lends her skills to the Centers of Excellent program.
Her service to the state is one more example of her commitment to helping build
Utah's technology business community.
Nicole is well regarded by her peers, having
recently been named by
Connect Magazine one of the 25 most influential business leaders in Utah for
2007, as ranked by Connect’s readers. She was also been selected as a member of the
vSpring v|100, Top 100 Venture
Entrepreneurs in Utah, for three consecutive
years. She has
recently launched a new blog at
Startupnotes.com, called Tales From the Entrepreneurial Front, to share
insights she has gained about the process of entrepreneurship. Utah
Business named Ms. Davis to their "40
under 40" list of Utah's Rising Stars in their February 2006 issue.
In 2001 Nicole was named one of Utah Business's
INNOVATORS - 30 Women to Watch.
Ms. Davis is an Officer of the MountainWest
Capital Network and is an advisory board member for the Women Tech Council of
Utah. She served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Utah
Technology Council (formerly UITA) from May of 2001 to November 2007. She was a leader in the 2003 industry drive for adoption of the
Utah's Venture Capital Enhancement
Act, designed to increase the available supply of Venture Capital for Utah
companies.
Ms. Davis enjoys working with new ventures,
having served as a member of the Advisory Board of SiliconOptics, Inc., a photonic bandgap firm
started in Utah.
Nicole has also advised
S5 Wireless, Inc., an emerging
location based services wireless firm s well as many emerging companies.
Prior to DoBox, Nicole accumulated over a decade of international marketing, strategy, and sales experience in the networking industry, focusing on wired and wireless local and wide area communications, network management and security, mobile management, and home networking.
Nicole was instrumental in the growth of mobile communications during her tenure at Megahertz, later acquired by U.S.Robotics and then 3Com Corporation, with key positions in marketing, business development, and strategic development, helping to grow the business from $100 million to $800 million. Ms. Davis holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She is a published author, with both textbook contributions and press articles to her credit,
the co-author of a pending United States patent, and is frequently called upon to
speak at
industry
and business community events such as the
BYU
Management Society.
